Day 6 Enabling Access.
The big things I took from today.
1. DFI is a continual process of choice
This (my DFI) is a work in progress. As long as I keep using, adding to and improving my digital skills, the digital experience (for myself and others) improves.
2. Connected
Being part of a team gives a place of belonging and gives us access to share and receive from others. Being connected develops a shared and common language - therefore allowing people to become even more connected.
3. Using sites as the center of class learning.
I need to ensure my site is easy to access the day's learning. Use less-words and more images. Less navigation required and all info readily accessible/clearly identifiable.
As a result, I have worked on creating a more comprehensive site page for my Yr 11 class topic: Number. So that if and when students are working from home, it is not a scary site to navigate.
Number topic - site, Document that has been worked on.
Hi Hamish
ReplyDeleteGood on you! I think you've made huge gains with your site today in terms of offering multimodal and the navigation is looking better. You got some valuable feedback too on your site which might be worth adding to your appraisal, especially for you to look back on at the end of the year.
Really enjoying working with you Hamish and seeing how far you take visible teaching and learning. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas :)
Thanks Kerry, still learning ...
DeleteKia Ora Hmaish,
ReplyDeleteGreat thoughts from today's session. I thought the information on your site was fantastic, and so relevant for your learners. It sounds like you are really thinking of developing the 'window-dressing' now - retaining the info but presenting it in a more appealing, user-friendly way. That is exactly what I have been concentrating on too. I'm so glad today was revisiting Sites and giving us time to work on them with the reflections we were given. I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone goes.
See you next week, Lindsay.
Too kind Lindsay - especially coming from you and you A+ blogging site. Wow!
DeleteYour site is impressive, Hamish. You are flying by wire, it will be good to hear how you find the students interacting and learning from the supports on your site.
ReplyDeleteThankyou, Marion. Many more things to learn before I become a master like yourself.
DeleteKia ora Hamish - A very popular blog! Great to see you responding to the comments you've been left. How have your students found the changes you've made to your site? I think getting their voices and opinions is so important as they are are our key clientele!
ReplyDeleteKa pai!
